With his team down early, Sullinger talks smack and then backs it up

Being down nine points to the NCAA tournament's most famous giant killers doesn't seem like the most opportune time to talk trash. Don't tell that to Ohio State freshman Jared Sullinger.

With his top-seeded Buckeyes down early in Sunday's third-round game against George Mason, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year heard some trash talk from some Patriots players. He decided to respond with a little of his own.

During a play, Sullinger bumped George Mason forward Ryan Pearson and whispered something in his ear.

"It's over, yo."

Ohio State then went on a 50-15 run to turn that nine-point hole into a 26-point halftime lead. The final score was 98-66 and it didn't even feel that close. Sullinger finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and one prescient prediction.

His Buckeyes, the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, move on to face Kentucky on Friday in the Sweet 16. Sullinger says the team has yet to peak. "We can play better," he said after the game.

That's the beauty of being a star freshman. You're foolish enough to believe in your own invincibility and talented enough to back it up.
