A day after it was reported that new Missouri coach Frank Haith lost top in-state recruit Otto Porter to Georgetown, the recruiting tide has turned, at least in the coaching department.
Louisville announced today that star recruiter Tim Fuller (Prime Time Tim to his friends) is leaving the "Ville for Missouri to be an assistant next to his good friend and father figure, Haith.
"Frank Haith has been like a father to me," Fuller said in a statement released by Louisville. "He's been a part of my life since I was a freshman in college and has helped mentor, advise and direct me in every aspect as a person and professionally. I'm so thankful for everything that Coach Pitino has done for me at Louisville. He's helped change my way of thinking and drive me toward perfection. At this time in my life, being with Frank Haith at Missouri is a family decision and it's the best fit for us right now."
Haith and Fuller became close when Haith was an assistant coach at Wake Forest and Fuller was a player.
But the most interesting part about this move is 2012 recruit Rodney Purvis. Purvis, a shooting guard, was a verbal to Louisville, but also was recruited by Fuller. He's currently the No. 2 recruit in the country, according to Rivals.com. There's no word yet on what Purvis' future plans are, but what an amazing get that would be for Missouri and Haith if they were able to lure Purvis to Columbia, Mo.
Haith is known for his recruiting and bringing in Fuller will only strengthen that reputation. Missouri has three open scholarships for 2011 and potentially have six seniors leaving after the end of the 2011 season.
