Casey Mitchell Suspended Indefinitely by West Virginia

Casey Mitchell, West Virginia's leading scorer, has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, Mountaineers coach Bob Huggins announced Monday.

No further details were provided.

Mitchell, a senior, is averaging 16.6 points and 3.6 rebounds this season.

Mitchell's suspension came a day after forward Dan Jennings walked away from the bench in the second half of Sunday's game. Huggins called Jennings' exit "inexcusable."

Their absences would leave West Virginia with just eight scholarship players heading into Wednesday night's game at No. 23 Louisville.

Mitchell also was suspended indefinitely by Huggins in October for violating team rules, although Mitchell didn't miss any games.

Mitchell's suspension also follows on the heels of Noah Cottrill's departure. Cottrill, a freshman, left the team following a lengthy suspension, without ever playing a game.
