“Your thoughts will become your words. Your words will become your actions. Your actions will become your habits. Your habits will become your character. Your character will define your destiny.”
Gandhi’s words were shared with Greg Amundson by his bootcamp drill sergeant, and the Original Firebreather shares those same words with athletes at his Goal Setting and Positive Self-Talk Seminar. To Amundson, the words fueled a quest that had started with Greg Glassman’s pivotal quote, “The greatest adaptation to CrossFit takes place between the ears.” Six years later, that line has culminated in Amundson’s seminar.
In the last segment, Focusing on Your Goals, Amundson challenged athletes to pursue their goals and always keep them in sight. Today, he illustrates his own mental challenges and how he overcame them through a story about his arrival at bootcamp. His training, not only as a soldier but also as a warrior, developed his mental wisdom. Through Amundson, we can learn how to conquer our fears and “control and optimize our self-talk.”
