New York Jets and Chicago Bears advance towards Super Bowl

? Bears' Jay Cutler has field day against Seattle

The New York Jets upset the top-seeded New England Patriots 28-21 to advance to the AFC Championship.

The Jets, the lowest seed in the AFC draw and 45-3 losers against the Patriots last month, will travel next week to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers for a berth in the Super Bowl.

The Chicago Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks 35-24 to advance to the NFC championship with Jay Cutler making a spectacular play-off debut by throwing for two touchdowns and running for two others.

Chicago will host their bitter rivals, the Green Bay Packers, next Sunday at Soldier Field with the winner advancing to the Super Bowl on 6 February in Dallas.

"Now that we've won, it just doesn't get any better ? the Packers coming to our place," said the Bears coach, Lovie Smith.

Cutler completed 15 of 28 passes for 274 yards, including touchdown strikes to Greg Olsen and Kellen Davis, as the Bears raced to a 21-0 half-time lead, then coasted into the NFC title game while ending the Seahawks' play-off run.

The Chicago quarterback also ran for touchdowns of six and nine yards while a ferocious Bears defence bared its teeth, holding Seattle to a field goal and only 111 yards total offence through three quarters.

"They [the Packers] are our closest rival, just up the street," said the Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. "We don't like them and they don't like us."
